We have tried to merge these sounds and create a realistic effect
that
adds just the right touch of reality to the model.
This is a sample of some of the day sounds.
And we have a taste of what goes on at night!
• Too early in the morning for most, the 'start work' whistle blows. The Hyde Pulp Mill comes to life.
• The loudest piece of equipment is the chipper. Rotating blades slice logs into small chips. This runs all day long. Steam is vented from the digester tanks periodically, and the blowers continue to turn on and off as needed to help dry the pulp.
• When the whistle signals high noon things calm down for a bit.
• After lunch, the process of chipping and digesting continues. Carts run slabs of pulp from the main building out to the shipping building. But when the 5 o'clock whistle blows, everyone vanishes quickly!
• Various night noises provide the ambiance needed for an evening around the Hyde Pulp Mill.
It was tempting to add a bit of the colorful language that is usually heard around the mill, but since this is a family hobby, it was avoided. While Master Creations was the first to offer a laser-cut kit, and the first to include a complete sound and light system, we will not be the first to inject R-rated material into our wonderful hobby!
We know that not everyone is a computer lover, and that not everyone has fancy electronics on their layouts. So we have developed a self-contained, computer-controlled sound system. All the electronic work is done for you; you will need to connect the two wires to the included speaker and two wires to a power supply. We cannot make it any easier!
The effects are programmed for a full 24-hour day. We literally have scheduled appropriate sounds for every minute of every hour of a day! Our work is similar to that of the foley artist in the movies. We take raw sounds, adjust them to 'sound' right in the model world, and merge them together to create the effects we need. These effects are loaded into ROM chips. The effects are then programmed to play on four separate sound tracks under the control of the computer program that was designed specifically for Master Creations. Lots of work, but you deserve it!
And the computer system includes a fast clock feature. With the fast clock, you can hear the entire 24-hour day in less than one hour! Or you can easily set the system to match your fast clock, 32 different fast clock ratios are available, and you can start your day at whatever time you prefer! These are controlled by simple off-on switches. Full, easy-to-understand documentation is included with each kit.
And it does not stop there! In addition to controlling the sound effects, our computer also controls the lights! Different lights turn on and off at appropriate times to compliment the sound effects. No longer are lights just 'on' all the time!
